We started not to go to Sheepeater’s Cliff, but we were glad we did. It got its name from the Shoshone Indians who inhabited this area. They lived off the bighorn sheep that also lived here. The cliffs are basalt lava that, when it cooled formed these columnar joints. I’m not that smart, I just read the sign.
The area is now occupied by marmots. Debbie and Leah fell in love with these little critters and wanted to take some home. They live in the rocks because it is good protection from predators.
