Yellowstone Adventure part 5

ylwstne-teton2016_0129_stdOur next stop on our adventure was the Norris Geyser Basin.  This is a field of geysers dotted with pools of hot water.  Steam comes up everywhere.  There are warning signs everywhere not to leave the walkway because the crust is thin and you could fall through.  A week after we left we heard that a guy walked about 25 feet off the walk and fell through.  Rangers tried to find him but never did.  He was probably boiled alive instantly.  A few days later, someone was fined $10000.00 for stepping off the walkway.  Obey the signs, people!!

Like in mammoth hot springs, the beautiful colors are cause by microorganisms

and bacteria that can survive in the hot water.

If you look closely, you can see a black and white bug that somehow survives here.
